Some abstract pictures were hung in the cafe: these squares of abstract expressionism, framed by thick blocks of wood screwed together: a splotch of a primary color drew you into various color fields: but when you go real close you saw the canvases were burlap, and fibrous threads reached out of the picture’s surfaces.

The tracks of the L train ran into the tunnel and quickly round a bend. Square beams of light came through this tunnel, and in the light swirled highly reflective flakes, like snow.
